The GenderInSITE Africa regional focal point, which is hosted by ASSAf, participated in the Global Forum on Women in Scientific Research (GoFoWiSeR) and was represented by Ms Phyllis Kalele. The forum was hosted by African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) in Dakar, Senegal on 18 and 19 July supported by a consortium comprising of AWARD, the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the UK Department of International Development (DFID), South Africa’s National Research Foundation (NRF) and International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE). The Dakar GoFoWiSeR convening was envisioned as a global platform that brought together over 200 participants from across Africa and the world including leaders of research institutions, research funders, female scientists and other stakeholders, to discuss the trends and strategies toward increasing women’s numbers and experiences in STEM.  At the forum, Ms Kalele presented and launched the Pathways to Success report and formally handed over the report to Dr Wanjiru Kamau-Rutenberg, Executive Director, AWARD and Prof Soukeye Dia Tine, Director-Research Finances, Ministry of Higher Education and Research, Senegal. Additionally, Prof. Roseanne Diab, the Director of GenderInSITE was a panellist during a session under the theme Lessons from institutions’ interventions to increase the number and experiences of female researchers.
