Gender in Science Innovation Technology and Engineering (GenderInSITE) recently held their annual steering committee meeting on 11 March 2019 at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) headquarters in Paris. The steering committee of GenderInSITE is composed of representatives from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), the Organisation for Women in Science in the Developing World (OWSD), International Science Council (ISC) and UNESCO.
The meeting was led by the recently appointed Director, Prof Roseanne Diab, and the Africa regional focal point of GenderInSITE (which is hosted by ASSAf) presented its 2018 activities report and 2019 action plan. The steering committee meeting concluded with the endorsement of the newly appointed Coordinator of the Africa regional focal point, Ms Phyllis Kalele and the launch of GenderInSITE’s latest report, Pathways to Success: Bringing a Gender Lens to the Scientific Leadership of Global Challenges.
